A meeting of the Grants Committee for the above scheme was held on  2 December 2010 in National Archives of India, New Delhi under the Chairpersonship of Dr (Ms) T. Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India:

                Welcoming the Members, the Chairperson apprised them of the aims and objectives of the scheme and also the maximum limit of the Financial Assistance admissible under the scheme. She also informed that a comprehensive review of the scheme is already underway and the present meeting has

been convened primarily to clear cases already received in the National Archives of India.          Subsequently, the Agenda items were taken up for consideration and the following decisions taken:

Part A

Sixteen proposals that were complete in all respects were taken for consideration and the following decisions were taken:

1.      Grants Committee recommended a total grant of s`8,32,000/- (` Eight Lakhs Thirty Two Thousand only) to 8 NGOs which includes grantees matching share of `2,08,000/- (` Two Lakhs Eight Thousand only) @ 25% and Central share of `6,24,000/- (` Six Lakhs Twenty Four Thousand only) @ 75% of the grant amount. (For details please see Annexure-I).

2.      The Grants Committee did not recommend Financial Assistance to 8 Individuals of Part A of the Agenda as the financial proposals submitted by them were not found suitable according to the scope of the  scheme (For details please see Annexure-II).

Part B

The Committee did not recommend financial assistance to 1 NGO and 1 Individual (incomplete proposals) of part B of the Agenda due to pending utilization certificates, non-receipt of State Archives/ SLSC recommendation and in the absence of any specific information about the financial proposals. (For details please see Annexure-II).  

The Grants Committee unanimously decided that the individual grantees may approach for financial assistance to Indian Council Historical Research and National Manuscripts Mission, New Delhi for Preservation of Manuscripts and Rare Books which are housed in their custody.

 

            The meeting concluded with a Vote of Thanks to the Chair.
