MEMORANDUM
In supersession of the earlier memorandum No.31-1/2008-Grants dated the 16 June 2008, Grants Committee for the Scheme of Financial Assistance to the registered Non-Governmental Organizations which includes Colleges, Libraries/ Museums, Universities/ Deemed Universities and Individuals for preservation of Manuscripts/ Rare Books, is hereby reconstituted for the year 2009-10 with the following members:-

2. Tenure:
The term of the Members of the Committee will be for a period of current financial year ending on 31 March 2010. Members will be eligible for re-appointment for subsequent terms.
3. Meeting:
The meeting of the Grants Committee will be held in New Delhi and those would not be more than twice in a financial year. The date of meetings will be intimated to the Members of the Committee well in advance.
4. Function:
The Grants Committee will consider various applications received from the voluntary organizations, educational institutions including private libraries and Museums, Universities including deemed Universities and Individuals for allocation of funds for purchase, listing, cataloguing and evaluation of manuscripts/ rare books lying with them as per conditions for grant under the scheme. The Committee will also consider for assistance for technical know how for scientific preservation, repair and renovation, reprography and microfilming of rare and valuable manuscripts and books
5. Procedure:
Applications will be received through the State Level Screening Committee/ Archives in respect of the registered Voluntary Organizaions and Individuals. The State Level Screening Committee/ State Archives will forward such applications to the Deputy Director, National Archives of India with their specific recommendations. Universities (including Deemed Universities) may, however, send their applications directly. The applications should be accompanied by required documents as indicated in the scheme.
6. Allowances:
The Members attending the meeting will be paid TA/DA as admissible under the rules.
